Corn, A-Maiz-ing Corn
Why can’t you tell secrets in a corn field? Because there are too many ears! But this is one secret I want to let you in on – corn is the most important farm product in the United States. Farmers in our country grow twice as many bushels of corn as any other crop. Wisconsin is one of 12 states that make up the “Corn Belt” – which are the states that grow the majority of our nation’s corn. But did you know corn isn’t just used for food for you and me? It’s used for lots of other things, like feed for livestock, ethanol production, exports to foreign countries, and the production of thousands of different products. Most importantly, corn is a renewable resource, which means we can grow a new crop every year.
