Making Themselves At Home

There’s a bunch of alien invaders that have been making themselves at home in Wisconsin in recent years.  These non-native plants and animals were introduced to our state from other areas either on purpose, or by accident.  Eventually, the exotics turned aggressive – pushing native plants and animals out of their natural habitats.  Native plants provide food and shelter for wildlife – but when invasive species take over, that food and shelter is taken away.  So you can see why that’s a big problem.  Unfortunately, humans play a big role in spreading invasive species, and usually it’s completely unintentional.  That’s why we need to learn about the different types of invasive species threatening our state, and what we can do to keep them from spreading.
