Grounded in Energy

Geothermal energy is a way to heat and cool your home using the earth’s natural heat.  The earth captures the sun’s heat, and stores it underground.  Pipes are then buried about four feet underground, below the frost line, where the earth stays at a constant temperature (generally around 55 degrees) all year round.  A heat pump system carries liquid through the pipes, and the heat is pulled from the liquid to use in your home or business during the winter.  In the summer, the reverse happens.  Heat is pulled from your home or business, and is put back into the ground while cooling.
