ARCHERY

If you're just starting in shooting sports, archery is a great thing to try first. There are lots of places you can learn about archery-like at your local 4-H club, through county programs, or maybe even at your school. And if you get good enough, you can even compete. Or if you want, you can just enjoy the feeling of letting an arrow fly off your bow! Wherever you go to shoot, though, be sure there is an adult on hand, and follow some basic safety tips:

  1. The most obvious rule is: do not aim a bow at a person, living thing or breakable object.
  2. A bow must not be loaded with an arrow unless standing on the 'Shooting Line' and the signal to start shooting has been given.
  3. When each student has finished shooting their arrows, they should stand back from the shooting line so the instructor or teacher can clearly see that they have finished.
  4. Wait until everyone has finished shooting and the signal to move forward to collect your arrows is given.
