3 POSITION SHOOTING

One discipline in shooting sports tests your ability to shoot a gun in three different positions: prone (lying down), kneeling, and standing. Shooters get 10 shots in each position, and their score is determined by how close they get to the center of the target. If you hit the center on all 10 shots in all three positions, your score would be 300. It's nearly impossible, but good shooters can come pretty close! Three-position competition is usually done with an air rifle or a .22 gauge rifle. You'll want to go to a shooting club, such as 4-H to get started. There are many ways to become involved in 4-H Shooting Sports. For more information on the National 4-H Shooting Sports program, you can contact your local Cooperative Extension Office by looking in the government section of the phone book.
