4-H
4-H is a community of young people across
America who are learning leadership, citizenship and life skills. 4-H is about
having fun, learning, exploring and discovering. In 4-H, young people make new
friends, develop new skills, become leaders and help shape their communities.
About
50,000 Wisconsin youth are enrolled members of 4-H clubs in Wisconsin. Another
195,000 Wisconsin youth get involved in 4-H through special educational opportunities
at school, in after school programs, or at neighborhood or youth centers. These
youth live in cities, suburbs, small towns and rural communities.

WISCONSIN COUNTY FAIRS
Each summer, counties across Wisconsin gear
up for the annual county fair. These fairs are a great opportunity to see a number
of farm animals as well as top-notch projects from gardens to photography. For

PROFESSIONAL DAIRY PRODUCERS OF WISCONSIN YOUTH LEADERSHIP DERBY
Sponsored
by the Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin (PDPW) Education Foundation,
the Youth Leadership Derby provides youth ages 13 to 17 a fun way to explore careers
in agriculture. The event is held over a weekend each fall and is open to all
interested youth ages 13 to 17, regardless of farm background or agricultural
experience.
"The Youth Leadership Derby brings together young people and
expands their horizons to the incredible opportunities that exist within agriculture
today," explains Shelly Mayer, Executive Officer, PDPW Education Foundation.
"It gets youth excited about the industry and provides an opportunity for
them to start developing networks that can support and encourage agricultural
career options."
Using a variety of fast-paced, hands-on workshops, labs
and other fun activities, the Youth Leadership Derby is a supervised, weekend
lock-in.

BADGER DAIRY CAMP
Badger Dairy Camp, which focuses on fitting and showing
of dairy cattle, judging, and dairy science related workshops, is held every June
on the UW-Madison Campus.

FFA
For high school students interested in agriculture and dairy,
FFA is a great organization. Based around agricultural classes and activities,
FFA members participate in a variety of events while learning leadership skills.

a million students across the country are becoming leaders, building self-esteem
and preparing for career success. And they're having a great time in the process.
They're members of FFA, the organization for students in agricultural education
and they're making new friends, going new places and trying new things. They're

WISCONSIN
JUNIOR HOLSTEIN ASSOCIATION
Youth who have an interest in Holstein dairy cattle
and learning more about the dairy business as a whole enjoy being part of the
Wisconsin Junior Holstein Association. Organized at the county level, groups study
their dairy knowledge and compete in dairy bowl, dairy jeopardy and other interactive
contest each year at the Wisconsin Junior Holstein Convention. Each spring, members
from across the state meet for a weekend of fun at Cow Camp.

WISCONSIN MILK MARKETING BOARD
Did you know that Wisconsin produces
more than 450 kinds of cheese? Or that there are seven breeds of dairy cows? You
will learn that and much more by visiting the Kidz Zone at www.wisdairy.com. The
Kidz Zone was created by the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board, an organization funded
by Wisconsin's dairy producers. WMMB regularly works with School Foodservice coordinators
to encourage students to drink milk and eat their three servings of dairy daily.
