SCUBA
Did you know that 22% of Wisconsin lies under water. And a great way to discover this world is to learn how to scuba dive!

There are over 700 shipwrecks resting on the bottom of Lake Michigan and Lake Superior—thirteen in the Milwaukee area alone. To preserve these underwater museums, the Wisconsin Historical Society and University of Wisconsin Sea Grant Institute joined forces to create an underwater “trail” system to guide divers to various shipwrecks.

While creating this new trail system, archeologists have uncovered not only shipwrecks, but ice harvesting tools, early Native American fishing gear, quarries and many other cool artifacts.

To become a certified scuba diver head to your local diving store to get lessons. You’ll learn about diving fundamentals, technique and equipment.
