RAIN GARDENS & RUN-OFF
Planting a rain garden is a great way to spruce up your family’s yard as well as help the environment!
Rain gardens help by:

• Increasing the amount of water that filters into the ground, which recharges our aquifers

• Protecting your community from flooding and drainage problems

• Protecting streams and lakes from pollutants carried by city storm water—lawn fertilizers and pesticides; oil and other fluids that leak from cars; and many harmful substances that wash off roofs and paved areas

• Providing habitat for birds, butterflies, and many beneficial insects

If your school or family is interested in planting a rain garden you can get great, printable information and manuals at:

You can also contact Susan Priebe or Ellen Rulseh from Partnership for Rain Gardens, which is located in Madison, Wisconsin. Their website is: http://www.partnershipforraingardens.com/
