These accessible cabins can be found in these parks:
• Mirror Lake State Park: With a 200-foot beach, canoeing, and year-round fishing, this lake is one of the best destinations in the Dells. Check out the sandstone bluffs that surround the lake when you head to this park located near Baraboo in Sauk and Juneau Counties.

• Buckhorn State Park: This 4,500-acre park and wildlife area is a hunter and angler’s dream. You can do everything from play volleyball and horseshoes to hunting and fishing for a wide variety of game in the nature area. This park is found near Necedah in Juneau County.

• Potawatomi State Park: There are over 28 miles of trails for hiking, biking, and skiing at Potawatomi, and because it’s located on Green Bay park visitors can enjoy boating, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, Scuba diving, and water skiing. This park is located near Sturgeon Bay in Door County.

• Kettle Moraine State Forest – Southern Unit: The land around Kettle Moraine was formed over 10,000 years ago when two glaciers met and left billions of tons of sand, gravel, and rock. If you want to learn about glacial formations like kames, eskers, and kettles, be sure to check out this park. Also a 31-mile long section of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail runs through the park which is located near Eagle in Waukesha County.

Camping is a great activity to enjoy with the whole family, and Wisconsin’s State Parks System encourages people of all abilities to have fun in the parks, so six state parks have cabins fully accessible to people with disabilities. There are two kinds of cabins available – Rustic Accessible Cabins and Accessible Cabins with more amenities. Here’s a list of what you can expect of these cabins and the parks where they’re located.

Rustic Accessible Cabins
• Wheelchair accessible
• Additional tent permitted (up to 8’ X 8’)
• Four person maximum (six with a tent)
• Accessible fire ring and picnic table outdoors
• One bed combination, one double bed with thin mattress pad
• Accessible pit toilet, flush toilets, and shower near cabin
• Electricity provided with two outlets and lighting in cabin
• Small open porch
• Only certified service animals allowed in cabins

Rustic Cabins can be found in these parks:

• Copper Falls State Park: Copper Falls is a great place to see canyons, streams and waterfalls right here in Wisconsin. There’s a swimming beach and miles of trails to explore. The park is located in Ashland County just north of Mellen.

• Blue Mound State Park: Blue Mound is the highest point in southern Wisconsin, and you can view from an observation tower, splash around in the swimming pool equipped with a lift for people with disabilities, or use one of the year-round trails at the park. It’s located near Blue Mounds in Dane County.

Accessible Cabins with more amenities

• Wheelchair accessible
• No additional tent permitted
• Six people maximum (OR parents, children, and not more than two guests)
• Kitchen with low counter, stove microwave, and refrigerator
• Two hospital beds with lift, full-size sofa sleeper, two cots
• Bathroom with wheel-in shower, bench, and shower commode chair
• Heating and air conditioning
• Electricity with many outlets in cabin
• Screened, attached porch
• Only certified service animals allowed in cabins
