Hi, my name is Sydney.
I'm 12 years old. Before I started on ITO
I did a ton of theater work. I've worked for the Milwaukee Rep Theater at the Pabst. I've done many shows at the Fireside Theater in Fort Atkinson and loved every single one. I've also worked at many other theaters. I've been very lucky because I've traveled many times to LA
and New York for auditions and work. I have also done some commercial and voice over work.
I auditioned for ITO because I thought it would be good to branch out into television. After I auditioned and got the job, I was so excited to start. I love everyone I've worked with there.
I like being a part of ITO because it is so neat the way the show teaches kids about the outdoors in a fun way. I feel very proud of what I do there and proud to be a host on the show.
It's great!
Q: What do you do for fun when you’re not shooting Into the Outdoors?
A: I love playing kickball with my dad and brothers. I always love
playing games with both my brothers! I'll play with friends too
whenever I can! I love to dance and sing - so I take dance lessons for fun, too.
Q: How do your friends and family feel about you being a host on Into the Outdoors?
A: My friends and family are so supportive of me - which I'm very
thank ful for. I have 2 brothers and a sister. They are always there for me and make me feel even more confident when I'm nervous about an
audition. They also think it's really cool I'm a host on ITO. They're always interested in what I did on the episode. I love them all and couldn't live without them.
Q: What is the best part about being on Into the Outdoors? And the coolest thing you’ve ever gotten to do on a shoot?
A: The best part of being on ITO is working with all of these interesting people and the things I get to learn while shooting. I always learn something new whether it's about a rainbow trout or how many cows are in Wisconsin or even how to make paper! The coolest thing I've ever gotten to shoot was probably learning how to shoot a target gun. And personally, I wasn't half bad! Also learning how to make paper from recycled paper. That was really fun too.
Q: What did you learn about the shooting process of Into the Outdoors that you didn’t know before you did it the first… second… or third time?
A: I learned it doesn't matter what order you shoot the shots in. You could do the last scene first and the first scene last. It wouldn't matter because they could place each one in the right place during editing. That was interesting.
Q: What kind of music do you listen to? And do you listen to it between shots or locations on a shoot?
A: I listen to a variety of music. I like some country, some hip hop, and I love listening to musicals like 'Annie' or 'Singing in the Rain. I don't listen to music between shoots because a lot of times you don't have a lot of time to sit and listen. And even if I did have time I would be looking over my lines because to me it's important to know them.
Q: What is a normal shoot for you like? Do you stay in a hotel the night before or after? Do you have to wear make-up or special clothes? Who decides these things? Do you hang out with the crew? I have so many questions I don’t know where to start… tell me everything?
A: A normal shoot usually means a whole day of filming, which is very fun for me. Then if there was a voiceover, I'd come back a couple days later and do the voiceover at the studio. I stayed over night in a hotel only twice. You could wear make-up if you wanted but I don't. But, you do have to wear special clothes because it can't be too busy or have to much print on it. The director usually decides these things. I always hang out with the crew! Everyone I've meet has been so nice and funny and friendly so it's easy to be around them with out feeling uncomfortable. They always give you a microphone to put on because then they can hear you clearly. You clip the battery on the back of you pants so the camera doesn't see it. Then you slip the mike up your shirt so you don't see the cord and then they clip the mic to the top of your shirt. Sometimes they change the lines a little. It's kind of fun when they do because it's like a challenge you have to overcome.
Q: Is it hard to make up school work when you have to miss class for an Into the Outdoors shoot? When do you make up the work? And, would your parents still let you be a part of the ITO cast if your grades started to go down?
A: It's acually not hard for me to make up school work because I'm a straight "A" student. I make up homework in my free time or finish it at school or even on the car ride to the shoot. It gets done whenever I have time. I wouldn't know about bad grades because it hasn't happened. That's why I always study because if my grades started to slip I wouldn't let myself do the show because I feel education is very important, and you need that to get through not only a show but through life.
Q: Of all the Into the Outdoors episodes you’ve done, which one is your favorite? Why? Was the segment’s topic really interesting, or did you just have fun with the crew?
A: I love all of the episodes I've done for different reasons. One of
my favorites was my Wiscosin Dairyland one because I did everything with a blue screen.(It's called a green screen but it was acually blue) I also learned a lot about Wisconsin and dairy and cows! The topic was very interesting because it include trivia like which country eats the most cheese and stuff like that. The crew was spectacular too and that made the experience fun and enjoyable.
Q: What is your favorite movie… and your favorite part, of course?
A: There is no way to choose my favorite movie because I've watch 1 million of them and I loved almost every single one. So unless you want me to name about 750,000 movies............. let's just say I like a lot of movies!
Q: If you could be ANYTHING in the world when you grow up, what would it be? What’s so cool about it… and have you always wanted to be one?
A: I would definitely want to become a television or movie actor because it's been my dream since I was little. What's cool is how in TV or movies you can transform yourself into anyone and I think that's really amazing. I would also love to do Broadway someday- I came close to getting a Broadway show once...maybe someday! I love to sing and cook. So I'm going to dream big and hopefully do all three! (So I guess that would make me a singing chef on TV.)
