Hi, my name is Allison.
I am 11 years old and go to school in Libertyville, Illinois. I have one brother, Alex, a dog named Hailey and my mom and dad. At school I participate in Student Council (VP), Cheerleading, Volleyball, Basketball and Sign Language Club. It’s a lot of fun. I'm also involved in Karate and plays. When my mom told me I was cast on INTO THE OUTDOORS, I was very excited! I want to be on TV when I grow up.
I am really excited about being on this show because I love the outdoors and I love how kids can show off their talents, like fishing and archery. I think it’s important to learn and understand these things. I have seen it in school too. Shows like this make learning fun!
Q: How did you get picked to be on Into the Outdoors?
A: I auditioned at my Talent agency and then I got a call saying I was on the show.
Q: How do your friends and family feel about you being a host on Into the Outdoors?
A: They are super excited and can’t wait to see the show!
Q: What is the best part about being on Into the Outdoors? And the coolest thing you’ve ever gotten to do on a shoot?
A: The best part was learning about how to shoot a TV show. It is a lot different than plays! I got to learn a lot about fish and even got to stick my hand in a fish tank full of fish fry!
Q: Did you learn anything interesting on your shoot that you didn’t know before?
A: Yes! I didn’t even know what happens in a fish hatchery, but now I know a lot of information on what happens there.
Q: What did you learn about the shooting process of Into the Outdoors that you didn’t already know?
A: That one more take usually means about ten more to get the right angles, etc. I also learned that it is ok to make a mistake because we can do it again!
Q: What is a normal shoot for you like? Do you get to travel?
A: A normal shoot was about 3 hours and many takes and angles of the same part of the show. I traveled to Northern Wisconsin which was about a 6 hour drive.
Q: Do you have to wear make-up or special clothes? Who decides these things? Do you hang out with the crew? I have so many questions I don’t know where to start… tell me everything?
A: There wasn’t any makeup. We had to get some rain gear to walk around in the mud! And it snowed in MAY! When you get the script, Amy asks you not to wear stripes or logos on your clothes. When you get to the shoot, you meet Scott, who is the coolest camera guy ever - and Amy, the nicest person ever. Then, you film the show. They take many shots, so they can pick the best shot to put on TV. I was able to hang out with Scott and Amy at lunch, dinner and even at the hotel! It was so much fun and I learned so much!
Q: Is it hard to make up school work when you have to miss class for an Into the Outdoors shoot? When do you make up the work? And, would your parents still let you be a part of the ITO cast if your grades started to go down?
A: We asked for homework ahead of time. Some of my teachers gave me my homework ahead of time, so I could do homework in the car. My parents would not let me be on ITO if my grades went down. School ALWAYS comes first, but I didn’t have any problems making up my work quickly and completely.
Q: What do you do for fun when you’re not shooting Into the Outdoors?
A: I do karate. I am a brown belt. I also do plays.
Q: What kind of music do you listen to? And do you listen to it between shots or locations on a shoot?
A: I mainly listen to pop music. I didn’t listen to any between shots or on location. We were busy most of the time while on location.
Q: What is your favorite movie and why?
A: My favorite move is UP. It is a very touching movie.
Q: Have you done any acting before? If so, what has been your favorite role(s)?
A: Yes, I have done many plays. My favorite role was Mary in The Secret Garden. It was the lead role.
Q: What kind of activities do you participate in at school and in your community?
A: At school, I am Student Council Vice President, in basketball, volleyball and sign language club. Out of school, I do a lot of community service and volunteer work.
Q: If you could be ANYTHING in the world when you grow up, what would it be? What’s so cool about it… and is that what you’ve you always wanted to be?
A: I would be an actress. That is something I have always wanted to be. I love performing on stage, and now, behind a camera.
