Adventure Team

Hi, my name is Abby.

I’ve been in many plays, most of them for church and the community.
I’ve been a fan of ITO and one day I told my dad I would like to be on it.  He emailed the show and they were taking auditions, so I tried out. A couple weeks later, I found out I made it!  One of my favorite things is meeting new people and finding out what their jobs are like.

Question - Answer

Q:
What do you do for fun when you’re not shooting Into the Outdoors?

A: My favorite thing to do is climb our apple tree and do some reading or writing, taking pictures of wildlife, or trying to get birds to eat from my hand.  I’m always trying to help or make friends with animals, especially wild ones.  If I don’t go outside for the entire day, I go crazy!

Q: How do your friends and family feel about you being a host on Into the Outdoors?

A: My friends thought it was really cool, and everyone kept saying I was a celebrity, even though I didn’t think so.  My younger sister, Moriah, helped me with my lines, and boy, was she a tough judge!  She let me know every little wrong detail.  Sometimes I’d hear, “Cut!” before I had said the first paragraph, but she always congratulated me when I got the line right.

Q:
What is the best part about being on Into the Outdoors?  And the coolest thing you’ve ever gotten to do on a shoot?

A: I think it’s cool seeing places that I’ve never seen before in Wisconsin, and well, I like EVERYTHING about the show.

Q: What did you learn about the shooting process of Into the Outdoors that you didn’t know before you did it the first… second… or third time?

A: I didn’t know anything about being on TV the first time I was on ITO, but by the second show I had learned to talk slower and face the camera.

Q: What kind of music do you listen to?  And do you listen to it between shots or locations on a shoot?

A: To tell you the truth, I don’t really listen to music, but I like to play music.  I play the harp and piano, so I’m too busy learning music to listen to it.

Q: What is a normal shoot for you like?  Do you stay in a hotel the night before or after?  Do you have to wear make-up or special clothes?  Who decides these things?  Do you hang out with the crew?  I have so many questions I don’t know where to start… tell me everything?

A: My family gets all excited when I’m called to do a show, especially my little brother, Brant.  I’m the oldest, so I try to include my siblings in the show.  My mom picks out my outfits that look nice, but casual, and the producer picks which one I should wear.  The first show I shot with another girl.  We had a great time.  We usually get to a hotel the night before the show.

Q: Is it hard to make up school work when you have to miss class for an Into the Outdoors shoot?  When do you make up the work?  And, would your parents still let you be a part of the ITO cast if your grades started to go down?

A: My family homeschools, so I’m flexible with school hours.  If my grades went down because of ITO, my parents would warn me about it but would only make me quit if my grades got worse.

Q: Of all the Into the Outdoors episodes you’ve done, which one is your favorite?  Why?  Was the segment’s topic really interesting, or did you just have fun with the crew?

A: I can’t decide which one I like the best.  They are all so fun!

Q: What is your favorite movie… and your favorite part, of course?

A: I like the movies “Dreamer” and “Night at the Museum.”  I don’t really have a favorite part.

Q: If you could be ANYTHING in the world when you grow up, what would it be?  What’s so cool about it… and have you always wanted to be one?

A: I’ve always wanted to be a veterinarian.  I love animals and want to help them as much as I can
.
